From an intimate 40 person wedding to a 200 person affair, The Evergreen can accommodate both the intimate and the immense as Portland's premier wedding venue!

"We had our wedding at the Evergreen, and I can’t imagine a more perfect spot. The space itself is stunning from the floors, to the lighting, to the plants that live in the huge windows, you hardly need any décor to really make this place shine. There’s a reason The Evergreen makes the lists as one of the top venues. I’d recommend them for any event large or small" - Megan W.

About Us

The Evergreen is a family affair. Kurt and Heather Huffman took over the space in July of 2015 and oversaw the renovation of the former Portland Police event space (originally a legion hall for the Odd Fellows) . Kurt’s other company, ChefStable, partners with Chefs and Artisans in Portland to create one of a kind culinary experiences and artisan products. The Evergreen’s purpose is to be an event space and wedding venue worthy of Portland and its residents– a venue where we can celebrate everything exceptional about our amazing City. We were fortunate enough apply all of the lessons we learned in partnering on San Francisco’s premier event space and wedding venue The Pearl to The Evergreen and the result is an event space that we built without compromise. We were able to choose the best of the best in every category. As a result the aesthetics, acoustics, audio visual system, lighting, furniture, and amenities are world class. We built and equipped The Evergreen to host everything from a small corporate event to a concert by the Rolling Stones. There are no limitations.

Our Story

The Evergreen’s design followed a simple prime directive: reveal and celebrate the original architecture of the space. We removed the drop down ceilings to expose the full height of the ballroom and the original circular windows near the roof line, revealed the brick walls, sand blasted the cement post and beams, and refurbished the original 1908 maple dance floor. On the perimeter of the dance floor we installed large concrete tiles which introduces a touch of modern to the space, but only with the intention of emphasizing the original craftsmanship. We tiled all of the bathrooms from floor to ceiling. All of our tile work was done in partnership with Design and Direct Source and their fearless leader Ann Sacks. Our bar features a custom poured bartop from Portland artisan Eric Butler. The only architectural additions we made to the space are the two massive sky-lights which bring delightfully grand lighting to the space both during the day and at night. The staircases, wood flooring, bannisters and bar were all built by local craftsmen with the intention to pay homage to the Arts and Crafts architecture of the original space. To the extent possible, only local products and craftsmen were used on this project.
